ISO 9001-2000 Certification
Wyle Laboratories has long been recognized for both its quality culture and its commitment to providing the best possible value in terms of engineering and management products and services. An extension of this commitment was the registration of the Quality Management System (QMS) at its Lexington Park, Md.; Camarillo, San Diego and Ridgecrest, Calif.; Virginia Beach and Arlington, Va.; and Orange Park, Fla. sites to ISO 9001:2000 with Design (Accreditation Certification # 01.228.1) in August 2001 after a detailed assessment audit performed by Smithers Quality Assessments, Inc., a QMS registrar accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Program (or ANAB).
Quality Management System
As required by ISO 9001-2000, Wyle Laboratories’ QMS defines processes and procedures for all aspects of its business, with the specifics of process implementation based on individual contract and customer requirements. Features of its quality management system include:
· Corporate commitment to exceed customer requirements (customer requirements represent the minimum acceptable level of quality)
· Significant involvement by all levels of management, including regular management reviews in which all aspects of the QMS are reviewed for effectiveness and opportunities for continuous improvement
· Development of metrics by which the effectiveness of the QMS can be evaluated
· Continuous effort to improve QMS procedures and processes
· Frequent contact with customer personnel to obtain feedback on satisfaction with products and services
· Standardized electronic project planning process
Customer Focus
Wyle Laboratories’ QMS has been carefully tailored to its customer environment and proven business processes. Planning of service realization, the delivery of highest quality products and services to its valued customers, is a central focus of Wyle Laboratories’ QMS. This planning is documented for each project and includes the identification of resources and processes needed for the delivery of support services for the specific customer. Planning is documented in an electronically routed web-based database permitting effective and efficient management oversight of the planning process. Each project plan also identifies verification, validation, monitoring, inspection, and customer interface activities specific to ensuring the successful accomplishment of customer requirements.
Commitment to Quality
Wyle Laboratories’ commitment to quality starts with the highest levels of its executive management team and extends to its most junior employees. This commitment directly benefits its customers because Wyle Laboratories is always looking for ways to work more effectively and consistently across program and organizational boundaries. This effort naturally and inevitably reduces barriers and encourages innovative improvement in everything Wyle Laboratories does.
Wyle Laboratories’ ISO 9001-2000 registration is not the end of this effort; it is just another step in its continuing quality journey. |
